There is a term uses that says "stay the course" and that is what a sports training fitness program is all about. Stay the course means don’t deviate from your goal and stay focused on the finish line.

Sports training is different from general personal training. A sports training fitness program is geared towards a course that emphasizes and demands peak performance and endurance.

This type of physical training also concerns itself with issues such as mineral depletions and the likelihood of sport related injuries. It is a well-rounded fitness program that deals with the body and mind.

Sports Training Fitness Programs Are Forward Progress

When you stay the course, you are always in a forward direction. A sports training fitness program is a regimen of exercises and diet that keeps you moving ahead towards ultimate fitness.

The program can be sports specific, focusing on those exercises that build strength and agility related to that sport’s activities. Or a sports training fitness program can focus on all the major elements required for athletics and used in every sport.

Sports can take have a big impact on the body unless you are physically and mentally prepared for the challenges they present.

A sports training fitness program conditions the body to handle all kinds of sport – basketball, football, hiking, climbing, soccer, rowing, bicycling and so on. Each sport has its own specific moves that require particular muscle use and movement.

Agility in a sports training fitness program uses lateral moves to teach moving quickly and easily. This part of the training program can include drills and running back and forth.

A sports training fitness program will have a component of exercises that focuses on flexibility. Flexibility is something that we need all our life, but in sports flexibility conditioning is especially important for preventing injuries.

There are many movements in sports that are normal use of joints and muscles. This includes backhand swings in tennis and tossing a ball over the head from behind.

Range of motion increases the degree of movement in the joints. Flexibility training also keeps muscles loose. Flexibility training may include various kinds of stretching exercises.

Endurance training is a sports training fitness program is concerned with cardiovascular health. Most sports require aerobic activity where the muscles demand oxygen.

Athletic activities also demand peak performance from the heart and lungs. Endurance training is geared towards reducing fatigue and maintaining muscle performance under demanding circumstances. Endurance training exercises include interval training, stair stepping and running.

Speed training in a sports training program conditions the athlete for power moves. Different sports require different length of speed movements, but they all require speed at some point.

Even hikers face power moves when they begin that uphill mountain trek. Speed training can involve drills and running and sprinting techniques.

Finally, there is strength training that builds muscle. Sports require muscle endurance and the ability to withstand strain. Strength training exercises include weight lifting and resistance training.

Each exercise in a sport training fitness program is meant to help maintain forward progress in the quest for body conditioning. It is done one exercise at a time with advancing stages of difficulty.
